Woke up this morning to sunlight stabbing through the curtains—my phone was buzzing somewhere under the pillow. I think I was supposed to get up earlier and do one of those morning workouts, you know, the ones I always plan but never really complete. Anyway, I found myself scrolling Instagram again. It's like that notification light just draws you in. Somewhere between cat videos and motivational quotes, I stumbled into this... rabbit hole about Fourier Transform. Like, what even is that? I remember hearing about it in some class, but I was probably half-asleep back then too.

So, Fourier Transform, apparently, is this mathematical thing that breaks down signals into frequencies. Or, it's supposed to. I think. I read somewhere it’s used in signal processing. Maybe in those noise-canceling headphones I got last year? Or was it in my phone's music app? Anyway, it’s everywhere, supposedly, but does anyone actually understand what’s happening when you press play? I don’t know. It’s like magic. Or maybe that’s just my ignorance.

The idea is it takes something complex and... what, simplifies it? But then, that doesn’t make sense because it’s like turning one confusing thing into a bunch of other confusing things. Are frequencies simple? What does simple even mean here? I tried following this online tutorial, but it just... I don’t know, kinda lost me. There were graphs and equations and I had that feeling like when you walk into a room and forget what you were looking for.

I guess the point is to make signals clearer? But clearer for who? For what? Like, if I could apply this to my life, would my thoughts sound less scattered if I broke them into frequencies? Or maybe more scattered. It’s like trying to organize apps on my phone that I keep deleting and reinstalling, thinking this time it will make a difference. Does anyone else do that? Or is it just me?

And then there's this part of me that wonders, do the people who invented this stuff wake up and struggle with their own thoughts too? Or is everything laid out neat and clean like a Fourier series in their head, whatever that is. Makes me question if knowing more actually helps. Probably depends how you slice it, like life or a loaf of bread or something.

I don’t know, maybe there's a lesson here about breaking things down to understand them better, but I haven't exactly mastered that in any part of my life so far. This whole signal processing thing, it’s supposed to filter out the noise, right? But what if the noise is the best part? Or at least the most interesting?

Anyway, I’m rambling. Time to attempt that workout again. Or maybe just scroll some more. Who knows?
